Austin Area Birthing Center has welcomed families since 1987. Our birth center tours in Austin are free and open to anyone curious about midwifery care, and we also host childbirth classes, our Lactation Circle, and seasonal events throughout the year. Our calendar below shows everything we currently offer, including free birth center tours, childbirth classes through our partner Planet Childbirth, and our Lactation Circle for postpartum families. Select your desired tour, class or event to register.
Our classes are open to both AABC clients and the public. Some classes require registration/payment prior to the class date. Some class fees will be paid directly to the instructors. Please note: AABC South classes are taught at (2500 W. William Cannon, Ste. 503). Classes are canceled for major holidays. Follow us on Instagram for live updates!

About Our Birth Center Tours
Our birth center tours in Austin are designed to help you find the right fit for your care. Choose the tour format that matches where you are in your journey.
Free Group Tour
During your Birth Center tour a midwife will walk you through our birth suites, water birth tubs, and prenatal spaces, and explain how we care for families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. You’ll get to ask anything – about safety, water birth, transfers, what makes us different from a hospital, and any other questions you may have. Then our office team sits down with you for the conversation most families don’t expect to enjoy, what birth center care actually costs, and how it usually compares to a hospital birth. Tours run about 45 minutes. We keep the groups small so every family gets real time with us. Please bring one support person such as your partner, mother, or friend.

Free Personalized Consult with a Midwife
If you are ready for a deeper conversation, a personalized consult gives you one-on-one time with a midwife. We will review your medical history, give you a personalized tour of the birth center, and help you understand your financial options. This is the path most families take when they have decided AABC is a serious option for their care.

Childbirth Classes & Postpartum Support
AABC partners with trusted educators to offer evidence-based classes for pregnancy, birth, and the early months with your baby. Some classes are taught onsite at AABC; others are hosted by our community partners.
Planet Childbirth: Childbirth Education
Planet Childbirth offers comprehensive childbirth preparation classes designed for families planning birth center, home, or unmedicated hospital births. Their curriculum covers labor stages, comfort techniques, partner support, and what to expect during the postpartum period.
Classes are taught by certified childbirth educators at affordable rates, and AABC clients are warmly welcomed.

AABC Lactation Circle
Our Lactation Circle is a community gathering for breastfeeding and chestfeeding parents to connect, share, and receive guidance in a supportive environment. Whether you’re navigating early feedings, returning to work, or simply looking for community in the postpartum season, you’re welcome here.

Baby Love (Currently paused)
Baby Love is our postpartum support group for new parents and their babies. It is a space to celebrate the early weeks, share challenges, and connect with other families walking the same path. Baby Love is currently paused, with plans to return.
