Labor and Birth With Austin Area Birthing Center
Are you a first-time parent and feeling a little uneasy about all of the unknowns? Knowing what to expect can help you feel more comfortable and better prepared when the time comes. If you’re nearing your due date, here is a rundown of what to expect at our birth center!
What are the birth suites like?
Our birth suites are designed to feel like home. They are beautiful, cozy, and comfortable.
Some of the features of our birth suites include:
- A large tub
- A comfortable bed
- A spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower
We have a kitchen outside the door, so you can eat during labor or have a nice postpartum meal. You can also bring prepared snacks or drinks if you want.
There is plenty of room for customization, so you can bring your favorite blanket, essential oil, music, or whatever else you want around during labor. If you have any special requests for us, let us know beforehand so we can try to cater to them the best we can.
When should I call the midwife?
You can call us anytime. Our midwives are available to provide support around the clock. We recommend laboring at home during the first phase since it often takes awhile and you will have more freedom and comfort there. You can then come in during active labor when contractions are closer together. If you need support before that, we’re here to help.
Who can come to my birth?
You get to decide your birthing team without any restrictions. So you can invite anyone you want to your birth.
However, we recommend having just the key people present to prevent the room from getting too overcrowded. You can still invite people to be around, they can wait in our waiting room and come see you once you have had your baby.
