What Should I Bring with Me in Labor?

What Should I Bring with Me in Labor?

Preparing for your little one’s arrival is an exciting experience, but it can also be overwhelming. As your due date approaches, an important task to consider is packing your bag for the big day.

At our birth center, we provide all the essentials to ensure a comfortable and safe birthing experience. However, you may still want to bring a few personal items.

Here’s a comprehensive checklist to help you prepare:

  1. Comfortable Clothing: You’ll want to wear something loose and breathable during labor. A robe, nightgown, or oversized t-shirt can be ideal. Don’t forget to pack some socks, as your feet might get cold.
  1. Personal Hygiene Items: Pack your preferred toiletries, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, and other daily-use items. Lip balm is also helpful, as your lips may dry during labor.
  1. Entertainment: Labor can sometimes take a while, so bringing something to pass the time and keep you calm can be helpful. Consider packing a book, magazine, or device loaded with your favorite movies, music, or podcasts.

Here are some of the essentials we provide:

Snacks and Drinks During Labor

Staying nourished and hydrated during labor is crucial.

You’re welcome to bring your favorite snacks to keep your energy up through labor. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Nutrition Bars: Nutrition bars are easy to eat and packed with nutrients, so they are a great option for a quick snack.
  1. Fruit: Fresh or dried fruit provides natural sugars and hydration, which can be helpful during labor.
  1. Electrolyte Drinks: Keeping your energy up is crucial, so consider bringing drinks like coconut water or electrolyte-enhanced beverages to stay hydrated.

Don’t Forget the Car Seat!

One of the most important items you’ll need to bring is a car seat for your baby. Ensuring your car seat is installed correctly and ready to go will make the transition from the birth center to your home smooth and safe.

Everything else you need will be provided at our birth center, allowing you to focus on the incredible journey of bringing your baby into the world.

With this checklist, you can feel confident and prepared as you go into labor. We’re here to support you every step of the way! Give us a call if you have any questions!
