Choosing Your Birth Team
The day you deliver your baby marks one of the biggest milestones in your life. Planning helps ensure that everything happens according to your wishes and that there are less unexpected questions to cause stress in the moment.
One important aspect of planning includes who you want on your birth team.
What is a birth team?
A birth team is the group of people who assist you during labor and birth. This includes professionals such as midwives, other care providers, your doula, your partner, and anyone else you want.
Each person on the birth team has an assigned role that helps them care for you and make labor more comfortable.
How to choose your birth team
While you can choose to have whoever you want on your birth team, we recommend the most important people only. This helps ensure that the birthing suite isn’t overcrowded.
It’s good to choose people who can contribute to your care and help you relax. This can be your partner, a close friend, a family member, or a doula. Avoid including too many family members on your birth team since it can get chaotic.
Other family members can always visit you before or after labor.
Which AABC providers will be at my birth?
We operate as a group practice with excellent teamwork. Our midwives are on a rotating call schedule, so one of them will always be present to cater to your birth. A birth assistant will also be present to assist the midwife.
We meet all of our clients as a team and keep each midwife up-to-speed on every client. Our strong team relationship is an important part of providing high-quality care to our clients.
